Any driver commits a Dangerous Driving offence if the court is of the opinion that their driving fell ‘far below what would be expected of a competent and careful driver and that it would be obvious to a competent and careful driver that driving in that way would be dangerous.’ (Section 2A of the Road Traffic Act 1988).
Penalties for Dangerous Driving.
If charged, the court date can become a long agonising wait, especially for those who have never been in a courtroom before who simply want to know what the likely outcome will be. We will be able to attend any court with you and represent you.
Any conviction for such an offence will result in a disqualification from driving (unless we are able to argue that you have Special Reasons not to be disqualified from driving) for at least one year. Most convictions result in a Community Penalty punishment, such as unpaid work in the community or an electronically monitored curfew. In the worst cases, you can receive up to two years imprisonment.
