Studies suggest the pandemic's impact on drinking behaviour has resulted in heavy drinkers now consuming more alcohol at home than pre-COVID. That can increase the likelihood of driving the next morning with alcohol still in your system. If you consume four pints of medium-strong beer and four large glasses of wine, it could take as long as 14 hours for the alcohol to clear your system. So, if you are drinking between 9pm and 11pm, you may not sober until 11am the following morning. We are seeing a large increase in clients being stopped the morning after the night before and an increase of experienced police officers stopping clients based on their 'police nose' so to speak - i.e. police are trained to spot a driver who is driving whilst under the influence. Very rarely do clients realise that their driving is impaired - especially the morning after...
